Q: Can I change my user name?

A: It is possible to change your user name, but as it involves moderator input, we ask that requests to change user names are kept to a minimum. Before you contact a moderator you need to undertake the following steps:

1) Click the Search Button.
2) On the right hand side of the search panel, you have the option to search by user name, type in the user name you wish to adopt to ensure it is not currently being used.
3) If search results are displayed, the user name is already taken. If there are no results, you can continue with your request.

Check that your contact details are up to date on your profile. To do this, complete the following steps:

1) Click the Member Center button.
2) Click on "Name and contact information".
3) Check your details and amend as required. If you change your email address, you must validate it prior to sending a Private Message (PM) to a moderator.

PM a moderator in the following format:

Subject: User name change
Message: Enter a brief message complete with the new user name you would like to adopt.

Requests can take up to 48 hours to become active, and once completed the Moderator will contact you, by email, to confirm that the changes have been completed.

I was a member of the forums but can't sign in?

Q: I was a member of the forums but can no longer sign in, why?

A: In order that the forum can run smoothly it is necessary to periodically remove or suspend those members who have not logged onto the forum for a specified period of time, usually 24 months. This action also maintains forum security by reducing the chances of Account Takeover.

Before you try to rejoin the forum, request a new password to be emailed to you. This can be done from the "sign in" page. If you do not receive an email within 24 hours you can assume your record no longer exists and can therefore sign up again.

For information, all members who have not been active prior to 2008 have been removed.

Why do you clear Classified posts after 90 days?

Q: Why do you clear Classified posts after 90 days?

A: In order that the forum can run smoothly it is necessary to periodically remove or archive old posts. Typically, the Classifieds forum thread is "pruned" every so often removing all posts over 90 days old, all other forums have an automatic 1000 day archive system in place.

It would be helpful (if you sell an item), you got back into your original post and click the "modify" button, and select "Full Edit". Edit your title so the following is included "- SOLD". This means the admin team can quickly review the sold items and remove them from the forum.

Q: A forum is great, but where is everyone?

A: Whilst it's not a requirement to enter a location on your user profile it is recommended, so that a good geographical spread can be established for the purposes of arranging social gatherings etc. You don't have to enter you exact town/city, just a region would be handy! if you aren't sure how to enter a location here's the instructions:

    * Click the "Member center" button.
    * Locate the "Profile Information" link which is found under the "Edit profile" heading, and click it.
    * Enter any missing or out of date information - note none of the information on this page is mandatory.
    * When you are satisfied that the information is accurate click "Save".
